In the Mercedes-Benz model family there are several subbrands aimed at different audiences: AMG for lovers of sports models, Maybach for luxury connoisseurs and EQ for lovers of electric vehicles and modern technologies. But this was not enough for the brand, and it launched the Mythos Series line, which will be made up of exclusive and very expensive cars produced in limited editions for selected customers of the brand. The first-born will be the production version of the Concept Mercedes AMG PureSpeed concept car, presented during the Monaco Grand Prix.

Since the car has the status of a pre-production prototype, there is no special information about the model, but we can safely assume that technically the new product is a seriously modified next-generation production Mercedes-AMG SL roadster. It is logical to think that for the limited version they chose the most powerful version of the model, or with a proprietary four-liter turbo V8 engine that produces 585 HP. and 800 Nm from the Mercedes-AMG SL 63, or an 816-horsepower gasoline electric motor from the superhybrid Mercedes-AMG SL 63 SE Performance.

It is very likely that the new Mercedes AMG will receive both a nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic+ all-wheel drive, but we will know all the details in 2025, when the commercial version of the model will be presented without the “Concept” prefix to the name.

The main difference of the new Spider is its special bodywork, inspired by the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar. The front and rear parts of the body have changed, but the optics remain standard, as do the doors. Small transparent deflectors at the front and sides direct airflow around the cabin, but this is not the main thing. The car kit includes two helmets specially designed for the Concept Mercedes AMG PureSpeed for the driver and his passenger, and a “halo” takes care of the safety of people in the cabin, like in Formula 1 cars. At the front a huge protective bar is fixed to the engine shield and at the rear it is integrated into hidden safety bars.
As conceived by its creators, the “halo”, together with the open cockpit, should give drivers the most similar feeling to driving a racing car, because neither the roof, nor the windshield, nor the side windows separate to the people in the space around them. . Well, at the same time, supercar owners will be able to feel involved in the extensive racing history of Mercedes-Benz.

The designers point out that the two fairings behind the seats refer to the 300 SLR in which Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson won the 1955 Mille Miglia race with a record average speed of 157 km/h on public roads. The “10” indices on the front fenders symbolize the brand’s victory in the Targa Florio 100 years ago, as does the model’s livery. The scarlet Le Mans Red tone changes to Graphite Gray with a black pattern characteristic of AMG, in reference to the Mercedes Tipo Indy 2.0, in which the German Christian Werner achieved the brand’s second victory in the legendary Targa Florio in 1924. Although in At that time, German racing cars were traditionally painted white, for the Italian race the characteristic red tone of Italian cars was chosen, so that local fans would not disturb the foreign teams. The plan worked and it would be a sin not to pay tribute to this success in a modern model.

There is no information about the interior of the sprinter, but it is already clear that the car will be strictly two-seater: not only are there no seats in the back, but there are not even shelves for storing luggage. All that is promised is “unique colors” and “rich equipment”, as well as a luxury chronograph specially designed by the Swiss watchmakers at IWC Schaffhausen on the front panel. Probably, everything will really be limited to a special finish, and in terms of architecture and equipment, the novelty will repeat the original Mercedes-AMG SL.

The price of the production supercar based on the Mercedes AMG PureSpeed concept also remains a secret. Now the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 in Europe costs from 195 thousand euros, prices for the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 SE Performance version start at 224 thousand euros, so the exclusive sprinter will obviously be more expensive. Taking into account that only 250 examples of this unique model will be manufactured, the price may approach half a million euros or even exceed it.
