Russian mixed martial arts fighter Alexander Shlemenko explained the need for a rematch with Serbia’s Alexander Ilic.
“This fight is necessary. I’ll explain why: a really annoying loss that happened right away. Yes, you could say he blinked, you could say he didn’t tune in, that is, all the preparation was in vain. And I also think that the referee stopped it early. After all, he had already fought 80 professional fights and I needed to be given the opportunity to at least try to make a comeback a little. I’m not saying whether he would have won then, whether I would have recovered or not. We won’t know. But they should have given me a chance.
Replacement of judges? I will not demand it personally, but I will try to somehow talk to the judge, the referee, so that he is more attentive to his work. There was a foreigner in that fight, it is clear that the fight is international, but it seems to me that our judges also do a good job.
I will prepare as usual in my gym in Omsk at the Storm school. This is our style. We believe in ourselves. We believe in our strength, we believe that we can prepare for different fights at different levels. And Omsk has always helped us and paid us in kind,” said Shlemenko, whose words are quoted by the RCC press service.
Ilic knocked out Shlemenko 22 seconds into the fight at RCC 12 on August 26.
