Most likely, the team will have another foreign coach.

However, Guillermo Abascal was removed from his position as Spartak coach. The Spaniard has already said goodbye to the team, Vladimir Sliskovich will act as acting coach.

Rumors about the coach’s dismissal have been circulating for some time, and the main reason is the lack of clarity in the game and the results. “Spartak” now occupies sixth place in the RPL; After the resumption of the season this spring, the team won the championship only once – beating “Dynamo” with a score of 2:1. After each game there was talk of retirement, criticism from experts and football people intensified: the Spaniard was called an experimenter, a clown, young and inexperienced, who should already be looking for a new job. The specialist himself responded a week ago to a question about his resignation with a joke: “Don’t worry. “Now I’m going to come home, eat sushi, and go to bed.”

The day after this, another information appeared that Abascal had already been found a replacement and his resignation was only a matter of time. The defeat in Sochi put an end to the long-awaited relationship between Spartak and the Spanish coach.

Whats Next?

On Monday, “Championship” reported that the main candidate to replace Abascal is the Dutchman Pascal Jansen. Spartak sports director Tomás Amaral is in favor of his appointment. The names of other specialists appear in the Russian media: Stanislav Cherchesov and Valery Karpin, but, according to our information, Karpin is not on the list of candidates.

Chairman of the board of directors Oleg Matytsin is in favor of Cherchesov’s appointment, while Amaral promotes Jansen. There is no Russian on the club’s sports director’s short list; In addition to the Dutch coach, there is also Vladimir Ivich.

Who is Pascal Jansen?

If Spartak listens to Amaral (and so far everything is going to the point that this will happen), the team will have a new foreign coach in the near future. According to the Championship, Jansen remains the priority option. Journalist Ivan Karpov recently reported that a foreigner had already flown to Moscow to negotiate with Lukoil.

It is still unknown when Spartak’s new coach will be announced. Sliskovich will prepare the team for the second leg of the Russian Cup round of 16 against Zenit, which will take place on April 17.
