The Russian Championship has just started and it is still too early to draw conclusions based on five rounds. However, some trends this season are already beginning to emerge. “Championship” studied the statistics based on the data from “Rustat” and found several interesting indicators.

1. Zenit is the 14th team in the league in hits
It’s hard to believe, but the Russian champions hit less often than others. In terms of shots, Zenit shares 14th place with Lokomotiv: they have 51 attempts each (only Pari NN has fewer: 39). In terms of shots on goal, Sergei Semak’s team is the penultimate: 16 hits (only Pari NN has less: 9). Spartak players are the most successful (72) and Krylya Sovetov (34) is the leader in accurate shots.

2. It is better that Lokomotiv do not open the statistics xG
In terms of chances created, Krylya Sovetov leads with 10.53 xG (expected goals). Very close to CSKA with 10.29 xG. Both teams showed little top performance, scoring 12 goals each. And the Lokomotiv has rather unattractive performance. Not only that, according to xG, the team is in the penultimate place, creating chances for 5.21 goals. Also, Loko is the worst team in the league in terms of shots allowed (11.42 xG).

3. Baltika is the neatest team, while Akhmat is the toughest
If we count the yellow and red cards, Baltika received the fewest: five yellows and no reds. That is, one warning per game on average. In the match against Dynamo, the Kaliningraders managed without cards. And the toughest team so far is Akhmat (11 yellow and two red). Although there is not so much difference between them in terms of the number of fouls: 62 times the rules were violated by Baltika players and 68 by Akhmat players.

4. Yaroshik was fired, although in one of the Orenburg components he sharply added
Last season, Orenburg had a successful season, but in terms of the number of passes and accurate passes it was not even in the top 10 in the RPL (in any case, Zenit was in the lead both then and now). But this season, even though the team didn’t win, they improved a lot in passing. Both in total number (2,605) and in accurate passes (2,199), Yaroshik’s team is second in the league. Although Zenit’s lag is quite large (2,929 passes and 2,557 accurate), the gap with Spartak is not that significant (2,519 passes and 2,126 accurate).
5. “Torch” is about martial arts.
We’ve heard before that Fakel is a fighting team, but the stats are still impressive. The club leads the league in both number of single combats (874) and single combats won (458). If we take into account martial arts, then “Torch” also ranks first (in total – 337, and successful – 164).

6. Garré already has an impressive dribbling advantage
It is a pity that due to injury we will not see Benjamin Garré in the next games. The striker naturally breaks the league with his dribbling. He has 45 attempts to hit (Claudinho and Ngamale-29 each), and at the same time the Argentine successfully did it 30 times (Claudinho-16, Ngamale-18). Garré’s dribble is successful in 67% of cases; this is quite a high rate.
7. No one commits fouls more often than a Krasnodar striker
If you thought the defender would be the foul leader, you’re not. Last season, Rostov striker Nikolai Komlichenko most often violated the rules (53 times). And in this the Krasnodar striker John Córdoba leads: 17 fouls (without taking into account his six offsides). And when it comes to fouls this season, the Wings’ Fernando Costanza ranks first (17).

8. The best goalkeepers: Safonov and Lantratov (depending on what you count)
If we evaluate the percentage of reflected hits, Safonov is still the best after five rounds. He managed 87.5% of the shots on goal (14 of 16). And Ilya Lantratov is the leader in the number of rejected shots, he repelled 24 shots on target. It is true that he missed nine more.
