At the next Roland Garros, the tournament draw developed very differently for the most promising sisters of Russian tennis: Mirra and Erika Andreev. His path to Paris this year is different and difficult in its own way.

Mirra, 17 years old (38th racket in the world), will play in the first round against the American Emina Bektas (98). The girls had never met before. Of all the potential rivals in this “RG”, Mirra played only with Pythons Stearns (0-1 in personal meetings), Linda Noskova (1-1), Arina Sabalenko (0-2) and Elena Rybakina (0-1). On the one hand, the first danger may await Andreeva Jr. already in the match with Azarenka. Victoria recently said that at 35 she feels better than ever; She actively plays and remains an unknown opponent for Mirra on the court. Although, on the other hand, this could be a good challenge for the Russian. And Mirra’s possible test in the third round cannot be compared to the one she gave the draw to her sister Erica.

In the first round, Andreeva Sr. will fight with the world’s second-ranked racket player Arina Sabalenka. The tennis players had never faced each other before, but Mirra faced the Belarusian athlete twice. And both times she was defeated in two sets.
Sabalenka approaches the French major in good shape: at least that can be judged by the previous “thousands” finals in Madrid and Rome. The Andreevs will play together for the second time in Grand Slams. Before that, they entered the starting lineup only at Roland Garros last year: Mirra with a qualifying victory and Erica as a lucky loser. Then, the youngest of the sisters reached the third round, where she lost to Cori Gauff (7: 6, 1: 6, 1: 6), and the eldest fell in the first match to Emma Navarro (2: 6, 6 :3, 4:6). Overall, Erika has yet to win in the TBS main draw.
However, the Andreevs were not the first Russian sisters to play together in the Grand Slam. Before them, the Kudermetovs made their mark on the Major: Polina, 20, and Veronika, 27, were at the heart of the Australian Open 2023. The youngest finished the fight in the first round, and the oldest in the second. The Kudermetovs never played on the same TBS again.
Unsurprisingly, the Williams and Pliskova sisters are considered the brightest sisters in tennis. Serena and Venus won 30 Grand Slams between them. Carolina reached the final twice at TBS (US Open – 2016, Wimbledon 2021) and Christina played in the third round of AO 2017 and Wimbledon 2015).

The Frukhvirtov sisters from the Czech Republic are now following a similar path to that of the Andreevs. Linda, 19, made it to the fourth round at AO-2023, and Brenda, 17, played in the second round at the Australian TBS this year. The Czechs, ranked 146th and 90th respectively, will not play in Paris this season.
