On August 27, 2023, the capital will host a brilliant summer sports event for the second time – the Open Water Water Sports Festival. On this day, the championship of Russia in motor water sports, high jumps and a bright entertainment program will take place. Also, within the framework of the festival, a solemn ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moscow Rowing Canal will be held, within the framework of which honored rowing veterans will receive memorable souvenirs.
The event was organized by the Department of Sports of the city of Moscow and coincided with the celebration of the centenary of sports in Moscow.
For the third time, the summer season in Moscow closes with a real sports festival, which is loved by Muscovites and guests of the capital. The Open Water Festival will delight the audience with large-scale high-level competitions that will not leave anyone indifferent! One of the brightest and long-awaited events of this day will be the international festival of deep-sea diving, which will be held in Moscow for the second time in history. This is a young and very spectacular extreme sport that has already won hundreds of millions of fans and viewers around the world. In 2022, the show attracted more than 5,000 viewers.
High diving – diving from extreme heights – 27 meters. While jumping from a tower almost as tall as a 9-story building, the athlete is not only in a state of natural fall, but also performs a series of incredible tricks, gaining speed of up to 95 km/h! That is why there are not so many professional athletes in the world, about 20. The strongest and most titled athletes from different parts of the world will become the festival participants. Russian athletes will climb the tower: two-time Russian diving champion Artem Silchenko, Igor Semashko and Ivan Kasymov. They will be joined by stars from other countries: Great Britain, Colombia, Poland, Spain, Germany, Brazil. The athletes will put on an incredible show!
In addition, on August 27, the Russian Motorboat Championship will take place on the Rowing Canal. Aquabiking is the common name for various technical disciplines of this sport related to jet ski racing. Competitions will be held in three disciplines: circuit races (races with a common start), slalom (time trial with the participation of two athletes) and freestyle (demonstration of tricks).
Also within the framework of the festival, for the fourth time, hydrofly and motorsurf competitions will be held. Aquabike, motosurfing and hydrofly are the most spectacular, dynamic water sports and motor disciplines that arouse the greatest interest among the attending public.
In addition to the competitive part of the audience, a bright entertainment program awaits you. A unique costumed smoke water show will be prepared for the guests, using a flyboard and a jet ski. A bright performance on the water will create a real festive atmosphere and give the audience unforgettable emotions. It should be noted that the festival is popular not only among young people! Every year more and more families come to the motor sports festival for interesting workshops, animation, a whole Lego city for children and, of course, a sports program – races on balance bikes and scooters.
