In the first round in Cleveland, Mirra Andreeva was due to play the legendary American Venus Williams, but the former tennis star withdrew from the tournament. Andreeva was replaced by a German rival, Tamara Korpach.
The first set was objectively a real victory for his opponent: 6-0, but then the young Russian player began to play less confidently and almost lost the match. As a result, Mirra, in the third set, left the German in the match and ultimately had a tough fight.
In the second round, Mirra got an even more interesting opponent: Sloan Stevens! US Open-2017 champion, which already says a lot about the tennis player. Stevens began to pressure the Russian indiscriminately from the very first games with an active game on the back line.

Mirra also showed successful individual draws, but frankly there was very little chance. For each graceful action of his rival, Sloan responded with deadly spikes in the courtyard, as if on the other side there was not a girl who had recently beaten the whole world, but a wooden door.
That is why it sometimes happens that at the beginning of the second set, after losing the first, there is almost no motivation to continue the resistance. This is psychology in sport. Mirra resigned herself to her fate, ceding the field of play to her rival and putting up virtually no fight in the service of the American.
6:3, 3:0 – it seemed that there were 15 minutes left to play, but to our girl’s luck, clouds seriously covered the sky and it started to rain, in another 10 minutes it finally got dark. The replay was postponed until August 24, but the young Russian did not have much chance of achieving a successful result. I must say that Andreeva still tensed up not to take the wheel in the second set. She even rested on the serve of a more experienced opponent, but with such a score it is very difficult to recover. She managed to take three games from Stevens, but unfortunately, our girl was not enough for more. 6:3, 6:3.

Mirra is the future of world tennis, Stevens, in fact, is already the past. Andreeva will still have time to recover in the next matches.
