The 100-year-old actor of the Mossovet Theater, Nikolai Lebedev, has died. He was the People’s Artist of Russia and a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. Representatives at the theater described him as “a man of difficult and heroic destiny.” These are the latest developments in TASS.
Theater staff members expressed their sadness and shock at Nikolai Sergeevich’s sudden departure. We lost our leader, and we don’t understand what happened. His work ethic was unmatched and he helped us grow to where we are now.”
Nikolai Lebedev began his acting career in 1939 on the stage of the Moscow Theater for Young Spectators. In 1942 he was bombed and captured, and passed through six concentration camps before he was released at the end of the war in 1945.
After he finished high school and eventually entered the Moscow Art Theater’s department, it didn’t take long before Vladimir Lebedev was given a contract with the Mossovet Theatre troup. For the next 70 years, he performed in 700 performances.
Self-confident Lebedev also acted in movies. He has acted in more than 40 films, from “Normandie-Neman” to “Eternal Call”, including “The Age of the Century.”
