There are more and more women entrepreneurs in Spain, representing 36.4% of the total number of self-employed workers in the country, an encouraging fact for all those who are considering starting a new business. However, there are those who are unaware that they can receive help to start their business, regardless of the activity they engage in.
That said, it is worth emphasizing that we can find both state and regional aid. Among the first we can find the different subsidies for the promotion of self-employment of unemployed people, there are different initiatives and programs that offer incentives for this, as happens in the case of those self-employed women who are pregnant, who in case of risk during pregnancy will be granted a subsidy equivalent to 100% of the regulatory base established for the provision of temporary disability derived from professional contingencies.
In line with the previous one, there is different aid for self-employed workers on maternity leave, since self-employed workers have the right to 16 uninterrupted weeks, a period during which the mother will have the self-employed contribution 100% subsidized, in addition to receiving a subsidy calculated by dividing the contribution bases of the last 6 months by 180. In addition, there is special aid in case of multiple births, if there are three or more children, or aid for the birth in cases of large or single-parent families, among others.
Self-employed women with children can also enjoy subsidies, with bonuses and deductions in personal income tax, as well as those who have been victims of gender violence, who will receive an allocation of 100% of the quota for 6 months. Similarly, there is state aid for unemployed self-employed mothers and a flat rate for those who are self-employed and who return to work after ceasing the activity.
To this aid we must add the subsidies from the Autonomous Communities, which in each case have different characteristics and conditions that must be consulted. The vast majority of the Autonomous Communities will offer aid to women entrepreneurs in 2024.
Other grants for women entrepreneurs
In addition to those mentioned, there are other aids aimed at better entrepreneurs that are aimed at women in more specific situations, the most notable of which are the following:
ENISA Digital Entrepreneurs Line: is a program that aims to promote female digital entrepreneurship, offering financing through participatory loans between 25,000 and 1,500,000 euros. You must have your registered office in Spain, be a Small or Medium-sized Company and demonstrate the viability of the project. Business Support Program for Women (PAEM): is a national program promoted by the Women’s Institute and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce that offers business advice to women to start a business or modernize an existing one. They offer microcredits without guarantees of up to 25,000 euros.
