“National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan visited Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 27, 2023, to discuss bilateral and regional issues, including initiatives to advance a shared vision of a more peaceful, secure, prosperous, and stable Middle East region interconnected with the world,” the White House said in a press release.
Earlier, the New York Times reported that during his trip, Sullivan tested the waters on the prospects of US President Joe Biden’s idea of signing a security agreement with Riyadh. Its essence is the establishment of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel in exchange for concessions for the Palestinians.
